Terms of service

What the app does for you, what to keep in mind while using it, and the parts its operator still has to write.

This is not yet a contract. This page states what the software does, which is a fact you can check in its code. The terms themselves, who the agreement is with, which law governs it, what is promised and what is excluded, belong to the operator and have to be written before the app is published widely.

The app is a ledger

The Expense Tracker records costs, adds up balances and reminds you. It does not hold money and it does not move anybody's money. Transfers between members are your own arrangement, through the bank or e-wallet you choose.

A room's figures are the sum of what its members recorded. Check them before you transfer: a cost recorded wrongly produces a balance that is wrong.

Your account and your rooms

Keep the way you sign in to yourself. You can always see which devices you are signed in on and end any session you do not recognise yourself, without waiting for it to expire or contacting anyone.

Members of a room see that room's ledger. Whoever opens a room invites its members, and when someone leaves, the entries already recorded stay with the people who remain.

What the software guarantees on its own

Not a promise on paper but the way the code behaves, on every deployment.

Deleting has to be granted

Deleting an entry is an action with its own permission, not a side effect of being signed in. A role that was not granted it cannot delete.

Sessions end from anywhere

You see the devices you are signed in on and can end any of those sessions, immediately.

Public pages carry nobody's data

Pages like this one are served identically to every reader. Nothing of yours is inside the copy that is cached for everyone.

What this page is still missing

Written down rather than left blank, so nobody publishes it by mistake.

The operator's identity and registered address. The governing law and where disputes are settled. What is warranted and what is excluded. How the terms change and how much notice users are given. What happens to an account when someone stops using the app.
